Changing Minds One Glass at a Time...

Laura and I probably answer one question more than any other when people come to Vino Where You Live...What made you think of this?

Vino Where You Live is the result of the vision of Laura Noonen.  Together with her husband, Tom, she set out to fulfill a dream of creating a Wine Bar in Central Ohio that would rival any other in the area, in the State, or in the Country!!  2 years of searching for properties brought her to the beautiful 6,000 square foot property located at 6400 Newark Rd., just South of Mount Vernon, Ohio.  Located on 5.5 acres of beautifully landscaped property surrounded by the pastoral splendor of rural Central Ohio,  one look at this one of a kind property was enough for Laura to know that this was the place to make her dream come true.

During her journey into becoming a wine enthusiast, Laura discovered that Ohio made some very good wines.  Not only those for which Ohio is more well known...the sweeter fruit wines, but more than a few suprisingly delicious Dry Reds such as Cabernet Sauvignons and Cab Francs.  The thing that people have the hardest time believing is that these wines are not only crafted here in Ohio, but the grapes are grown here as well.  Many varieties of delicious wines being produced from the banks of the Ohio River to the shores of Lake Erie.  She also discovered that there weren't many places outside of the wineries themselves where you could go and not only purchase, but taste their wines.  As she travelled around the State discovering the wonderful tastes of Ohio wines, the idea for Vino Where You Live was born.

Why not create a place that would be a central distribution and educational hub for Ohio Wines?  Why not make a place where people could come in and not only taste these wines, but also compare them to other wines from more traditional wine producing regions such as California, France, Italy, etc.?  Why not find a big, beautiful house to renovate into an incredibly unique place for people to come and relax and discover something new?

Why not?  Well, she couldn't come up with a good answer for that, so she went ahead and did it...

Tom and Laura are both lifelong residents of Central Ohio, and have remained to raise their family here as well.  Given that, it is no wonder that their business would reflect their affection for this area where their family roots go back multiple generations.

Corkage Fees explained...

We have had a lot of people ask us "Why do we have to pay 5 dollars to drink the bottle here?"  So, I thought I'd take the time to explain the rationale behind corkage fees at Vino Where You Live.

We have our bottles priced at State Minimum prices for carryout.  We do not mark them up like you would see at a restaurant, or at bars, because part of our business is for people who are there just to pick up a bottle and take it home.  The corkage fee is a price added to the bottle price for drinking the bottle at Vino.  Call it an "ambience charge", or a "service fee", or a "rental price" for renting the table, the glasses, and our incredible charm, wit, good looks and modesty...

If that makes no sense to you, ask yourself if you pay the same price for a beer at a bar as you would for the same beer at a carryout?  If you answered yes, either you have found the only bar that is perpetually priced at happy hour prices, or the carryout is really havin' a field day selling the beer at bar prices!!

Even with the corkage fees added, the price of the bottle at Vino Where You Live is much lower than the price of the same bottle at a restaurant or a bar.   Often times the prices are doubled or even tripled to what you would pay for that bottle at the store or a carryout.  We start at the state miminum price, and add $5.00.  Corkage fees at other wine bars can easily exceed $10.00 per bottle, so we feel that we are very competitive in our corkage fee pricing.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to come out to Vino Where You Live and pop open a bottle and we'll explain it to you as clearly as we can...it'll only cost you 5 bucks over the price marked on the bottle...and you'll have a GREAT time...

See you at Vino Where You Live, where we're changing minds, one glass at a time...

Parking at Vino.
We will be adding additional parking at Vino Where You Live this Spring.  In the mean time, please carpool if you can.  If you can't, and you're meeting a group out there, try parking around the circle drive out front.  If the first person pulls all the way around the circle, and then the rest park behind them, about 8 cars could fit there.  That would work great for a group that's going to be leaving about the same time.  In the paved lot, please park along the fence that is currently buried under a great big pile of snow!!  If you're meeting someone there, and you know what they're driving, you could double park with them as long as you're not blocking traffic when you're parked.
Thank You.
